Company Description
NewYork-Presbyterian’s Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive, structured day program for teens who need more support than weekly outpatient therapy but do not require overnight hospitalization. The program is designed to help young people stabilize symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with school and family life while continuing to live at home outside program hours.
At the White Plains location, the PHP is offered through the Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health at the Westchester Behavioral Health Center. The hospital describes PHP as “intensive daily treatment,” using structured therapeutic care during the day for adolescents who can safely remain at home with a plan in place outside program hours.
Daily services may include a blend of individual, group, and family-based therapies, alongside psychiatric care. NewYork-Presbyterian lists offerings such as individual, family, and group therapy; behavioral interventions; psychosocial rehabilitation that can include creative arts therapy; and medication management with psychiatric support. A multidisciplinary clinical team works with each family to build an individualized treatment plan based on the teen’s needs and goals.
Educational support is incorporated so that treatment doesn’t have to mean stepping away from school entirely. For Westchester, educational services are coordinated through LearnWell Services, helping students stay connected to academics while focusing on mental health recovery.
Before discharge, families and clinicians develop a transition and aftercare plan with recommendations for ongoing therapy, community resources, and strategies to manage challenges at home and at school. Families considering this level of care can learn more about referral options, admission criteria, and what to expect from partial hospitalization through the program website.
