East Acres at Hampstead Hospital in Hampstead, New Hampshire, is the state’s only psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) for children and young adults. This 12‑bed program serves individuals ages 5–21 whose behavioral health needs cannot be met in community settings and who require the highest level of residential care Youth are admitted for intensive, trauma‑informed treatment and around‑the‑clock supervision in an environment that is both therapeutic and educational. The facility provides education and 24/7 treatment and aligns its services with New Hampshire’s system‑of‑care values, which emphasize family‑driven, youth‑guided, community‑based and culturally competent care
Residents receive trauma‑informed psychiatric care from multidisciplinary teams that include psychiatrists, therapists, nurses and educators. The goal is to meet each young person’s needs while preparing them to return to their community as quickly as possible. Treatment includes individualized therapy, medication management, skills training and educational services, all delivered within a framework that honors families as partners in care. Admissions occur through the state’s Comprehensive Assessment for Treatment (CAT) process, ensuring that youths admitted meet clinical criteria for Level 5 care
