Sandstone Care – Cascade Canyon Teen Residential Treatment Center

Company Description

Sandstone Care’s Cascade Canyon teen residential program, located just outside Colorado Springs, offers a structured yet nurturing environment for adolescents ages 13–18 struggling with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. Nestled in the foothills near Pikes Peak, the program houses no more than twelve teens at a time in gender‑specific bedrooms to ensure individualized attention. Upon arrival, residents undergo a comprehensive psychiatric and medical evaluation, and a multidisciplinary team creates a personalized treatment plan using evidence‑based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, moral reconation therapy and family systems work.

Daily life at Cascade Canyon blends therapy, education, life skills and experiential activities. Teens participate in individual, group and family therapy sessions, attend on‑site schooling to maintain academic progress and learn practical skills like emotional regulation, communication and self‑care. The program leverages the surrounding wilderness to offer hiking, equine‑assisted therapy, meditation and adventure outings that promote resilience and connect youth with nature. Family involvement is central: weekly family therapy, parent workshops and virtual support groups help caregivers rebuild relationships and prepare for reunification. Graduates report feeling empowered and better equipped to stay sober and manage their mental health.

The Cascade Canyon facility is located at 5250 Pikes Peak Highway in Cascade, Colorado. Licensed and accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF, Sandstone Care provides a full continuum of care – from residential treatment to partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and aftercare services. Families choose Cascade Canyon for its small census, holistic approach, family focus and serene mountain setting that supports healing and long‑term recovery.
