Company Description

Squaw Valley Academy is a safe, clean campus nestled in a valley at the edge of the Tahoe National Forest and within five miles of Lake Tahoe. The campus is two miles from Squaw Valley USA, the six-peak, 32-ski-lift site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. The Sierra Nevada provides the ideal location to support a commitment to real accomplishment and personal achievement through Outdoor Education. The College-preparatory international boarding school at Lake Tahoe is for grades 8-12. We enroll students who need the structure of small classes, two-hour evening study halls, and weekend activities. As the oldest private school at Lake Tahoe, founded in 1978, the individual needs of each student remain an integral part of Squaw Valley Academy campus life.

The staff and faculty believe self-esteem is enhanced through real accomplishment in the academic, athletic, and social aspects of life at a boarding school. All students participate in Outdoor Education that integrates the math, science, and humanities curricula outside the traditional classroom. If a student keeps grades up to standard, she or he may ski or snowboard daily at Squaw Valley USA, the 32-ski-lift home of the 1960 Olympics. Squaw Valley Academy is a California 8th-12th grade international boarding and day school founded in 1978 to offer a combination of college preparatory learning, outdoor education, and sports opportunities in the scenic High Sierra at Lake Tahoe. SVA offers strong preparation for college as its central focus.
