Blackwater Outdoor Experiences (BOE) is an experiential therapeutic program dedicated to creating valuable and meaningful outdoor experiences while simultaneously fostering personal growth and development. Founded by Medical Director, Dr. George M. Bright, an outstretched hand, ready smile, and willing ear convey the prevailing culture.
The philosophy at Blackwater is to treat adolescents and young adults as people instead of patients, assess their strengths, and build on those strengths to accommodate their relative weaknesses. Blackwater’s program is designed to facilitate growth in the areas of Self-Confidence, Personal Responsibility, Trust, Respect, Personal Strengths and Values. They believe in the therapeutic benefits that exist in removing youth from the distractions of modern-day society and creating a safe, friendly environment for healing.
